Driver Awareness talks for schools, Sixth Form Colleges, Universities and Academies

Adrian Shurmer offers educational and psychological talks for Schools, Sixth Form Colleges, Universities and Academies that help enhance driver teaching, entertain, or provoke deeper thinking on an issue. As a former British Police Driving and VIP Protection Driving Instructor, Adrian is well placed to see the educational value of his innovative talks, and he extracts the key points which you won’t receive from any other driving organisation.

As a regular speaker on driver thinking, Adrian can also bring to bear his expertise as a VIP protection driver where it’s imperative that drivers do not trust any other road user, keep their vehicle in as much space as possible, expect to be attacked with an attitude of ‘if you are not being attacked it will only be a bonus!’ This is an excellent and entertaining method to instill into young and everyday drivers of the future – on everyday roads, every student being their own VIP.

Following the talks(s) Adrian can offer his very popular exam and, in the very near future, his online course to help students prepare well and perform with awareness – helping people to stay alive and uninjured for the whole of their driving lives.

Adrian is keen to engage with pupils, and that full advantage is taken of what he can additionally offer. Talks are based upon his book, ‘Mind How You Go’ – copies of which are purchased by the student as a learning aid.

Talks can last up to an hour – a total of three classroom periods is usually sufficient – between a week and a month apart – followed by practical driver attitude demonstrations by a Driver Awareness Ltd consultant – towns, motorways and rural roads. However, there’s a very flexible approach to consider any format that you would feel would be more appropriate for your school/college/university.

The aim of these visits is to support student educational driving attitudes by providing life-time needs and getting them to think ‘outside the box’ and not just believe all the government propaganda which we at Driver Awareness Ltd. regard as a failure because of all the deaths and serious injuries which occur everyday on our roads – “our roads” being anywhere on planet earth because psychological knowledge applies on any road, in any country and in any kind of vehicle. It matters not what kind of a vehicle you drive. It’s a mind game!

Unfortunately, because Driver Awareness Ltd is a private company and accepts no government money, we cannot offer any payment for talks in schools. However schools are usually happy to have their students purchase their own copy of the book and essential learning aid, ‘Mind How You Go’, and pay expenses on request.
